What is Obesity ?
It is a chronic disease caused by an abnormal accumulation of fat in the stock of the tissues in all parts of the body. This stock increases as person's get older and tends to decrease again after the six decade of age, in other words, it is increasing the body weight over the natural limit and this is due to the accumulation of fat.
Obesity was considered one of the signs of richness, peace of mind and health; however, many researches have proven the danger and the bad effects of this disease on health. In addition, it increases the proportion of deaths. So, it is very important to change our idea about this concept and alert people to the risk of obesity as a dangerous disease.
Obesity is defined as increasing a person's weight more than 30% of ideal weight.
The normal human body contains 30 to 35 billion fat cells, which the sizes of them increase when you gain weight.
The accumulation of fat in the body causes increasing the size of fat cells or increasing its number and it would be hard for the body to get rid of these new fat cells later. This is why it would be so hard to lose weight after this large increase.
We may understand obesity as a problem that is related to the will of a person, nevertheless it is associated with a group of medical disorder that might be genetic or environmental.
An obese people are at risk of many chronic disease compared with persons of normal weight, not to mention the genetic factor that makes some people susceptible to these diseases more than others.
Obesity becomes an additional, dangerous and life threatening factor, when accompanied with serious illness that in result causes what we call metabolic syndrome.
